چکیده

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is essential to prepare numerous popular dishes across sub-Saharan Africa. However, groundnuts may contain hazardous aflatoxin levels. There scant information on levels in Uganda and the causal agents of contamination stored groundnut. High content hinders trading groundnut products international markets, affecting Uganda's economy. The current study assessed with Aspergillus section Flavi fungi under storage conditions. One hundred seventy-nine samples were sourced from farmers' household stores 18 major groundnut-producing districts seven agro-ecological zones (AEZ). Aflatoxin ranged 0 1327 ng/g. Around 45% had above National Bureau Standards (10 ng/g). In addition, 1829 isolates recovered, A. flavus L morphotype dominated communities (80%). Aspergillus and aflatoxin in groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) and groundnut cake in Eastern Ethiopia.

This study was conducted to assess major Aspergillus species and aflatoxins associated with groundnut seeds and cake in Eastern Ethiopia and evaluate growers' management practices. A total of 160 groundnut seed samples from farmers' stores and 50 groundnut cake samples from cafe and restaurants were collected. Fungal isolation was done from groundnut seed samples. Aspergillus flavus was the dom...

Aspergillus section Flavi community structure in Zambia influences aflatoxin contamination of maize and groundnut

Aflatoxins are cancer-causing, immuno-suppressive mycotoxins that frequently contaminate important staples in Zambia including maize and groundnut. Several species within Aspergillus section Flavi have been implicated as causal agents of aflatoxin contamination in Africa. However, Aspergillus populations associated with aflatoxin contamination in Zambia have not been adequately detailed. Most o...

Genotypic Regulation of Aflatoxin Accumulation but Not Aspergillus Fungal Growth upon Post-Harvest Infection of Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) Seeds

Aflatoxin contamination is a major economic and food safety concern for the peanut industry that largely could be mitigated by genetic resistance. To screen peanut for aflatoxin resistance, ten genotypes were infected with a green fluorescent protein (GFP)-expressing Aspergillus flavus strain. Percentages of fungal infected area and fungal GFP signal intensity were documented by visual ratings ...

GENETIC DIVERGENCE IN GROUNDNUT (Arachis hypogaea L)

Comprising 34 groundnut genotypes an experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with three replication at the Research farm of Regional Agricultural Research Station, BARI, Hathazari, Chittagong during Rabi season (December 2009 to April 2010) for estimation of the multivariate analysis of divergence. The genotypes were grouped into five clusters. Cluster III contained the highest nu...
